Self-catering accommodation in Lake Garda

Salo’ -  a gem on the shores of Lake Garda

Salo’ may not be so well known in its own right but it is quite simply one of the beautiful towns on the shores of Lake Garda.  It is located on the western shore, called Riviera dei Limoni (Riviera of the lemons), due to the important presence of its lemon trees cultivation.

Salo’ is steeped in history and there are numerous ruins from its Roman heritage.
The old town centre is a lovely place composed by a lot of quaint alleys and little squares where there are beautiful properties, elegant shops and plenty of bars and restaurants, where you can sit, relax, eat a gelato or sip a cappuccino and watch the world go by!

Things to do in Salo’

There are plenty of things to do in Salo’; on a Saturday morning, there is a great market which brings in people from all over the area and there is a large beach right in front of the town, which is perfect for sunbathing and swimming.

For sport lovers, there is a sailing school and the town offers a number of activities ranging from fishing to surfing, rowing, football, tennis, volleyball and basketball.

Families can really enjoy the area by hiring bikes and taking a ride along the shore or simply walking onthe promenades around the lake. Salo’ is also a great base to visit the lake and there are plenty of boat connections and excursions from the waterfront to get the most out of visiting Garda.

What to see around Salo’

The main cities of the Garda area are very close to Salo’: you cannot miss Gardone Riviera with its magnificent botanical gardens or Peschiera del Garda. Limone, Tremosine, Tignale, Gargnano, Manerba, Moniga and Desenzano del Garda are all within easy reach. Verona is perfect for a beautiful day out and is well connected by motorway and by public means of transport such as trains and buses.

For families, there are the two most famous funfairs close to Garda, which warrant a day out: “Gardaland” and “Movieland”.

Wine lovers will be in their element; thanks to Lake Garda's temperate climate vines dominate the landscape, and there are plenty of wineries where you can try locally produced Bardolino, Valpolicella and Soave

Salo’ is the place to go if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, for those who love relaxing on the beaches, sightseeing or also walking in the mountains and the surrounding hills. A holiday that can meet everybody's needs!
