It’s not difficult to fall in love with Rome, the capital of Italy. In the ancient world, Rome was the capital city of the Roman Empire and it is regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilization. The city was the centre of culture and arts, mainly during the Renaissance and for this reason, it is full of history and beautiful historical monuments, which are masterpieces.
Rome is also the capital of Christian Religion and the home of the Vatican City, the current seat of the Pope. In terms of religious monuments, you will be spolit for choice with St. Peter’s Basilica, Basilica di Santa Maggiore and Catacombs of Rome (underneath the city).
You can’t escape the breathtaking beauty of the Colosseum. It is the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire and it was used for gladiator combat. It’s never a dull moment in this city; wander through the many beautiful squares (Piazza San Pietro, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza del popolo), marvel at the numerous fountains (like the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous in the world) or be a culture vulture in some of the best regarded museums in the world (Musei Capitolini, the Vatican Museums, Galleria Borghese, including those dedicated to modern and contemporary art and great many others).

2. Visiting The Pantheon: it is a temple dedicated to all the divinities and it is famous for its dome.
3. Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain and express one desire, it is a tradition.
4. Watch the world go by in Piazza Navona: the favourite place of the locals to meet and talk each other and to attend outdoor pubs and wine bars.
5. Explore the Vatican Museums which contain masterpieces made by the most famous artists of all the times (Raffaello, Caravaggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Pinturicchio and many others).
6. Visit Trastevere; the most typical area of the city. This is the heart of the roman population, with medieval houses and streets.
7. Explore St. Peter’s Square (Piazza San Pietro): the most popular square in Rome, thanks to the presence of the Pope and the magnificent St. Peter’s Basilica.
