Italy has seen a big rise in popularity in the last few years.  With several flights added to new exciting destinations in addition to traditional routes, Italy is more accessible now than ever.

1/. Amalfi Coast – Few would argue the fact that this stretch of coastline has some of the most beautiful coastal scenery, towns and landscapes in the whole of Europe.  Mountain after mountain plunges into the clear blue sea, creating a dramatic coastline and stunning views. The Amalfi coast can be accessed within 60 mins of Naples airport!

Positano – Located high above the sea and perched on the mountain which plunges into the coastline, it has been one of the most photographed and painted towns of the Amalfi Coast.  A relatively small town with pretty little houses, a couple of beaches and amazingly stunning views, Positano is a very upmarket resort well known for its exclusive Boutiques and shops where Italians travel all the way from Rome in order to be seen in the most stunning of attire. If you tire of relaxing on the beach, or shopping till you drop, you can take a trip up to the hills and mountains where there are some excellent walks or visit one of the many cute villages which surround the town.

Sorrento – Not quite as hilly as its neighbouring town Positano, Sorrento in the summer months is ripe with tourism.  Although it does not offer the greatest selection of beaches it is a charming Italian town that is laid back, where relaxing is compulsory and this can be done in one of its many gardens. In the evening Sorrento comes alive offering excellent restaurants and bars to enjoy in to the late evening.  Sorrento is also a great base for the Island of Capri and the wonderful city of Pompeii, which are very easily accessible.

2/. Puglia – A still relatively under discovered region until recently, Puglia has surprised many who travel there.  Puglia is on the furthest part of the heel of Italy and has two stretches of coastline.  Rich in culture and architecture and also offering hundreds of miles of good coastlines and beaches this region is extremely diverse changing its image dramatically from town to town. Fly to Brindisi or Bari.  It is no wonder Helen Mirren bought a Massaria (typical Puglian white farmhouse) in this beautiful region.

Alberobello – Famous for its large concentration of Trulli in 1924 this town was declared a town of historical importance and it is easy to see why.  Alberrobello is so unique with clusters of the round houses with pointed roofs (trulli) which are infamous in this region. This town is so unusual and fascinating that no visit to Puglia is complete without stopping off to appreciate its uniqueness. Many of the Trulli have been converted into wine houses, souvenir shops and restaurants so you can spend hours enjoying what this beautiful town has to offer by just pottering around the narrow streets.

Ostuni – Known as the “white city” as the majority of houses here are, well, white! Equally as pretty as Alberobello in its own individual way: with its windy streets and views as far as the sea.  In the evening the whole town lights up and the views are stunning from every angle.

3/. Tuscany – The most famous region in Italy.  Tuscany barely needs any introduction at all. Many a film, book and painting has been based on this region.  From its rolling hills, to its vast vineyards, it is picture perfect!  Its most famous asset is the wine region of Chianti, where you can find some of the best wines in the world.  Tuscany has so much more to offer, why not visit one of the less known parts of this region such as Lucca or Torre del Lago and all are within easy reach of Pisa airport.

Lucca – In the Northern part of Tuscany, the area surrounding Lucca offers a much different landscape from the south of the region. Expect pretty mountain villages, rivers and open valleys.

Riviera della Versilia (Tuscany’s coastline) is probably the largest stretch of uninterrupted golden sand in Italy. Back dropped by the Alpi Apuane and within easy reach of Pisa and Florence, stylish resorts with pine-shaded villas and apartments, elegant boutiques and stylish bars and restaurants provide the perfect location for sun-worshippers.
